Installation

Cast iron radiators are heavier than standard radiators and require extra care during installation. They can be installed into open vented or sealed central heating systems, but we recommend using a qualified heating engineer or plumber for safe and proper fitting. Valves and wall stays are not included.

Paladin Colours and Farrow & Ball finishes have a 7 working day lead time. Specialised Paint Effects and Hand Polished finishes have a 3-4 week lead time.

To convert this radiator to fully electric, you will need to purchase an Electric Only Conversion Kit.

Valves can be selected based on your pipework. We recommend either angled or corner valves. For guidance, visit our Radiator Valve Guide.

Q1: Does the Paladin Bartholomew Column Radiator come with a warranty?+

Yes, the Paladin Bartholomew Column Radiator is supplied with a 10 Year manufacturer's guarantee.

Q2: Are cast iron radiators as efficient as modern panel radiators?+

Yes. Radiator heat output is measured the same across all types, so as long as you match the BTU requirement, a cast iron radiator will provide the same level of warmth as a panel radiator. Cast iron radiators retain heat longer due to their dense material, meaning they continue to emit warmth even after your heating system is turned off.

Q3: What is the difference between a radiator section and a column?+

A section refers to each individual piece that makes up the total length of the radiator. A column refers to the number of vertical tubes (columns) visible when viewing the radiator from the end.

Q4: How long will delivery take?+

The Paladin Bartholomew Column Radiator is custom-built to order. Paladin Colours and Farrow & Ball finishes have a 7 working day lead time, while Specialised Paint Effects and Hand Polished finishes have a 3-4 week lead time.

Q5: Are cast iron radiators easy to install?+

Cast iron radiators are heavier than standard radiators and require extra care during installation. However, they can be installed into both open vented and sealed central heating systems. We recommend using a professional heating engineer or plumber for safe and proper fitting.

Q6: Can I add just one cast iron radiator to my existing system?+

Yes, you can add a single cast iron radiator as a feature piece or install them throughout your entire home. They can be installed into central heating systems.

Q7: What colour options are available for cast iron radiators?+

The Paladin Bartholomew Column Radiator is available in Burnished Polished, Farrow & Ball, Hand Finished (Antique Effect), Hand Finished (Highlight Effect), Hand Polished, Industrial Polished, Mirror Polished, Paladin Colours/RAL, Premium Lacquer and Satin Polished.

Q8: Can I install a Paladin cast iron radiator myself?+

Due to the weight and specialist handling needed, we strongly recommend using a qualified plumber or heating professional for installation.

Q9: What valves are compatible with this radiator?+

This radiator is compatible with standard 15mm angled or straight radiator valves, sold separately. Visit our Radiator Valve Guide for details.

Q10: What is the returns policy for this radiator?+

Carriage charge to be incurred by the customer. Unwanted valves and accessories are subject to a 14 day return window and will not be accepted for return outside of this window.

Your new designer radiator will need valves. They will allow you to control the heat of your new radiator with ease. Need sleeving kits? Sleeving kits are tubes of brass that cover your radiator pipes and complete the luxury look.

Angled Valves

Pipework coming up from the floor + radiator connections on the side = Angled Valves. Suitable for any pipework which comes up from beneath, through your floor or up from your skirting board.

Straight Valves

Pipework coming up from the floor + radiator connections on the underneath side = Straight Valves. Best suited for pipework exiting from your floor or flexi-pipe up from your skirting board.

Corner Valves

Pipework coming up from the floor + radiator connections on the side = Angled Valves. Suitable for any pipework which comes up from beneath, through your floor or up from your skirting board.

Corner Valves

Pipework coming out from the wall + radiator connections on the underneath side = Corner Valves (recommended) or Angled Valves. You can also use Angled valves if you would like the valves to face forward.

Ensure you check with your plumber or installer to make sure you are using the correct valves. Need help? Contact our sales team today on 01257 452879
