When designing their central heating systems, lots of homeowners don’t know what to do about heating their bathrooms. This room can get just as cold as all of the others during the winter months and with no carpet underfoot, it’s important to ensure you have suitable heating solutions installed. Thankfully, a towel radiator could be the answer to all of your problems and this is a brilliant alternative to a traditional radiator for your bathroom.

Here at Designer Radiator Showroom, we supply a vast range of radiators that are perfect for family bathrooms, en-suites and wet rooms alike, and they are all designed with aesthetics in mind. Our towel radiators are from some of the best radiator manufacturers and all of the brands we stock were chosen for their contemporary designs. If you’re trying to find a heating solution for your bathroom, it’s always beneficial to install a towel radiator for a number of reasons.

Keep your Towels and Bathroom Warm

Towel radiators, also commonly referred to as heated towel rails, are predominantly designed to keep your towels warm. Having warm towels to use after your showers or baths is always beneficial, especially during the colder winter months. Once you’re finished with your bathroom towels, you can hang them back on the radiator to dry completely before using them again too and they will dry much quicker with the help of a radiator.

Whilst keeping your towels warm, this type of bathroom radiator will also keep the rest of the space warm. Towel radiators are very heat efficient and they will have a big impact on the temperature in your bathroom. Whether you install a central heating radiator, dual fuel radiator or electric radiator in your bathroom, it will be easy to keep your bathroom at a comfortable temperature all year round. When your bathroom is warm, you won’t have to worry as much about things like damp and mould too, which is an added benefit of towel radiators.

Have More Floor Space

The vast majority of towel radiators are wall-mounted vertical radiators and they won’t take up any floor space in your bathroom. They are often much smaller than traditional radiators too and it is easy to find wall space for this type of radiator. Having more floor space in your bathroom is always useful and it will give you more layout options to explore. Your bathroom will often look much bigger when it doesn’t have a bulky radiator taking up space too.

Make a Design Statement in your Bathroom

There is such a huge range of radiator designs to choose from and no matter what colour scheme or style you’ve chosen for your bathroom, there will be several towel radiators available that will work perfectly in the space. In addition to classic ladder-style towel radiators, there are so many unique designs available these days and if you want to make a design statement, there are several radiators that look more like wall art.

Convenient Place to put Clothes

When you have a towel radiator in your bathroom, you will have somewhere to hang your clothes whilst you’re showering and you won’t need additional storage solutions in this room. It isn’t uncommon for people to use their towel radiators as clothes dryers too and they are very useful in the colder months. You can put clothes and bed linen on your towel radiator to dry, and it will prevent you from having to use a tumble dryer as frequently.

Join us today as we teach you about an old dog out who’s learned a few new tricks.

THE TRADITIONAL LOOK

The next time you go to a stately home or to a period hotel with some rich history, have a look at the radiators you see fitted in the lobby, your room or the various amenities throughout. Chances are there are cast iron radiators sitting beautifully in each room, either ornately decorated or painted to elegantly blend in.

Refined detail; the Paladin St Paul

This refined style can be made for you extremely quickly, and without so much as breaking a sweat on the price.

Our specialist cast iron manufacturer Paladin is able to start from scratch, take your order and deliver to your door in only two weeks. It doesn’t matter if you live in the sticks, want an enormous size or a whole house full or radiators; Paladin takes your order and deliver on time, every time. Paladin’s cast iron radiators are easily the best quality vs. price vs. flexibility on the market too, making it very easy for the team here at the Designer Radiator Showroom to thoroughly recommend them for your home.

A LIBERATING AMOUNT FREEDOM

One very important thing which you can do with a cast iron radiator, which you cannot with most modern designer radiators, is decide exactly how wide you want it to be. Cast iron radiators are built by the section, so you might choose a model like the deliciously detailed Paladin Montpellier, and see that it is available at either 590mm tall, or 790mm tall.

Special finishes at no extra cost

From there you can see that each one of its sections is 71mm wide, and choose to have your radiator made for you in the size which you want it to be, and Paladin take care of the rest.

The finish choices are also amazingly diverse, you can choose from;

  • Farrow & Ball – The entire Farrow & Ball colour range, or any colour at all because Paladin offer a paint match service for free – Available at the standard price
  • Metallic Finishes – Available at the standard price
  • Hand Finished Antique Paint Effect – a paint treatment which carefully adds rich depth to your chosen colour or metallic finish, and emphasises your radiator’s detail
Paladin’s Antique Finishes are sumptuous
  • Hand Finished Highlight Paint Effect – Going one step further than the Antique effect, the Highlight paint effect takes a base finish of your choosing, and then Paladin’s radiator artists hand finish the raised detail in a second finish of choice, perfectly accentuating the raised detail so it is unavoidably eye-catching
Our Highlighted Finishes are detailed to perfection!
  • Hand Polished Service – Remarkably different. Take the paint away and leave the cast iron bare to the elements. Sounds preposterous, but Paladin hand polish each section of your radiator to a sumptuous glean, and leave it bare for you to take care of.
Bare cast iron; highly polished and firmly desired

The selection available when you start to look at cast iron radiators is tremendous, and this is why we at DRS offer complete assistance to help you find just the traditional radiator for your rooms, and make the process as easy and clear as possible.

If we’ve piqued your interest at all today, please feel free to contact us about our cast iron radiator range on our helpline 01257 452879 or email us at sales@designerradiatorshowroom.co.uk

You’re probably wondering why a person might spend the time creating an article about plain old boring towel rails (this author might have wondered the same thing a long time ago)… Or you might have spotted the preview image and you know EXACTLY why we at DRS get a little irrational about inspired designer towel radiators!

Today we’re going to examine what makes a towel radiator ‘designer’, and we’re going to show off some of the slickest models our team has seen over our years in the industry. Join us now or forever be stuck with boring old ladder rails…

Speaking of ladder rails, just in case you forgot, they look like this;

You’ve seen them, you get what they do, you’re probably sick of them and honestly we are too, so let’s waste no time and step into a world of newfound bathroom possibilities.

INSPIRATION AND STYLE

At DRS we get to see these beauties day in, day out in our showroom and on our website, so the thought of putting another ladder rail into someone’s property nearly knocks us sick. Your home deserves more, your bathroom deserves better, and you deserve to treat yourself to something amazing like the alphabetic Aeon S-Type, or the dramatically tiered Aeon Gallant;

Left: Aeon Gallant, Right: Aeon S-Type

Aeon is a hallmark brand known for their exceptional stainless steel quality in the designer radiator industry, and these two dramatic towel radiator designs really stand out (in both depth and the visual impact to the bathroom).

Designer towel radiators are where the real inspiration of our artists can be allowed to flourish and explore design frontiers previously left unexplored. These models push the boundaries of what is possible because unlike the other rooms in the home, a bathroom doesn’t need a tremendous amount of heat.

Not to be outdone by Aeon’s work, Bisque is one brand which blurs the line between heat and art, and creates towel radiator wonders that transform your en-suite from functional space into the pride of your home.

Above: Bisque Arichbald Electric, Below: Bisque Chime

Hanging towels, shirts and ties on the award winning Bisque Archibald is an utterly satisfying experience. This radiator was so well received that it has hung proudly in art galleries across Europe. Though less extravagant, the Bisque Chime is still just as much of a feature for a master bathroom, with elegant, cylindrical fingers, and perfectly proportioned dimensions.

EXPRESSION THROUGH CHOICE

The modern shapes which Bisque craft are not always suitable for every bathroom however, which is where the traditional, hand polished ball joints of the Vogue Ballerina come in. This spirited shape harks back to the lavish bathrooms of the Victorian and early Windsor periods, and enriches your bathroom from a modest dwelling to a classic abode;

Left: Vogue Ballerina BJ Floor Mounted, Right: Aestus Eos

Simpler than the Aeon S-Type; the Aestus Eos rolls both sharply off your tongue and sharply around its own shape. This neat shape is characteristic of the postmodern movement of ultra-minimal, hyper-aesthetical interior design, the kind of thing you see in the movies but rarely believe you might see in your own home. Well, with the Eos, you just might.

Coiling superbly around itself in complete contradiction to the Eos is Bisque’s Hot Hoop; a softly curved shelf which provides a luxurious place for your cats and towels alike to curl up and get cosy.

Left: Bisque Svelte, Right: Bisque Hot Hoop

The final designer towel radiator we have today for you is a real eye-catcher in the showroom. You can picture the Bisque Svelte inside your bathroom so easily because of its gentle curvature, and soft appearance matched in parallel by the mild arc of the thick, outer towel ring.

The charm which our towel radiator designers are able to impart upon their works of art is precisely what gets us excited about each and every design we offer. It’s something primal, the need to be unique and convey your personality through stylistic choice, and while the bathroom might be a personal place that not many others will see, what you say to yourself is likely to be the most honest and truthful expression you can make.

With our help you can remind yourself of who you are, and take pride in it each morning and night.

One brand stands out amongst even our extensive range when it comes to luxury, traditional towel radiators; Vogue. For years Vogue has manufactured an impressive range of designer radiators ranging from state of the art, modern designs, to both classic radiators for your normal living spaces as well as a wide range of high quality mid-high-end traditional towel rails.

Today’s DRS Review takes a closer look at one of these rails named the Vogue Regency, a broad towel radiator with impressive character.

OVERVIEW

  • Features a Chrome-finished outer frame, surrounding an inner steel-multicolumn radiator for high heat outputs
  • Two manufacturing options are available as the Regency can be made from either Steel or Brass
  • The Steel version comes with a huge 15 years manufacturer’s guarantee (3 times the normal 5 year average), while Brass version boasts an enormous 30 year guarantee
  • The design’s central body and over-hanging rail is handy for small and large towels, and the heat provided by the Regency will ensure you always have soft, warm towels to dry yourself off with
  • Available in both a floor-mounted and wall-mounted
  • The Regency is quite large, standing just shy of a metre tall in the floor-mounted version, and at 825mm for the wall mounted version, and both are sizably deep away from the wall, so ample space is needed to comfortably fit this radiator

IN DETAIL

The Regency both in name and in its demeanour gives you a sense of grandeur and stateliness, bringing the pride of royalty into your en-suite or master bathroom. The floor mounted version is available in both steel and brass variants, while the wall mounted version is available only in brass.

The steel version is fantastic value for money, and when you compare price vs quality, the Steel Regency wins on both counts, and this is reassuringly backed up by the much longer than average 15 year guarantee. The Brass version does push the price up considerably, but the guarantee doubles to 30 years and with it so does the build quality, making it suitable for almost any heating system requirements. Both the steel and brass versions are finished in high quality chrome which brightly gleams, making the Regency look exceptionally stunning.

AVAILABLE SIZES

The floor-mounted version of the Regency is available in either 965mm high (in the steel version) with 3 widths of 540mm/673mm/765mm, or at 938mm high (in the brass version), with widths of 500mm/675mm/735mm

The wall mounted version is available in brass only at 825mm tall, and with widths of 500mm/675mm/735mm.

Both of the brass versions are available with either Vogue’s standard ‘Legacy’ ball joints which feature softly rounded joints for a soft, neat appearance, or alternatively their ‘Originals’ ball joints, for slightly more ornate look at each of the Regency’s six connection points.

On top of these options, the Regency is also available as an electric model, bespoke made. By altering one of the side ball joints Vogue are able to install and electric element to increase the flexibility of the Regency tremendously.

THE DRS VERDICT

Installing the Vogue Regency is a superb way to increase the luxury of your bathroom without needing to plum for extravagant designs. The stately quality of the Regency will be the focal point of your bathroom, and a brilliantly functional one at that.

The Regency’s large design has ample space for all sizes of towels and clothes, and provides enough warmth to either dry them quickly or warm them thoroughly in time for when you need them. Beyond appearance this is the most important aspect for a towel rail, and the quality of the Regency in both steel and brass

Today’s blog is a review of one of our own models; the DRS Brescia.

The Brescia is a curvaceous Aluminium designer radiator that we are going to give you an overview of today, just hit the jump and we’ll get right to it…

AT A GLANCE

  • Made from Aluminium and so it is able to convect a lot of heat without using as much water as a steel alternative
  • On its own it will slightly reduce your heating bills, but if you change all of your home’s radiators then the savings will be considerable
  • A ‘Double’ panel radiator, meaning that it has two sets of heating panels for much higher heat outputs
  • Available in both White and Anthracite grey, and both finishes superbly suit the modern home
  • Due to its lightweight build it is an easy radiator to receive delivery for and store (and easier for your plumber to fit as well!)
  • Very good value for money, in fact, pound for pound our DRS range is sold at such fantastic prices that there aren’t many alternatives which even come close in terms of price vs quality vs heat output

IN DEPTH

The Brescia takes its name (and the inspiration for its good looks) from the gorgeous Italian city of the same name. The Brescia features a second set of heating panels on its rear side as standard, which allows it to hold nearly double the water, and likewise it produces nearly twice as much warmth for your room.

Each of the Brescia’s slanted panels is paired together with a matching alternately slanted panel which makes for a soft undulation which creates an entirely unique look for the radiator and has been extremely popular with our customers both online and in our showroom.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

The DRS Brescia features our 5 year manufacturer’s guarantee, which is the industry standard for Aluminium models, and so if anything was to turn out to be faulty within that time we would provide a replacement radiator for you and collect your faulty model free of charge.

The Brescia is available in only four sizes;

  • Height: 600mm x Width: 560mm
  • Height: 600mm x Width: 748mm
  • Height: 600mm x Width: 936mm
  • Height: 600mm x Width: 1124mm

This means that is isn’t the most flexible radiator out there, however most homes will be able to fit a radiator from the sizes available, it’s just a problem if you have an obscure space available that is particularly wide or short which requires something outside of those sizes, but that’s quite rare.

VERDICT

While the DRS Brescia is our own radiator, we want to give an honest review of it, and overall we feel that while the Brescia is limited by its selection of sizes, it is easily one of our most attractive designs. It produces a good amount of heat without breaking the bank to purchase, leaving you with more funds available to buy the wonderful valves and sleeving kits which finish off the design.

It’s a solid purchase for any home looking for a modern designer radiator to really set off the décor of any room it is put in.

Today’s DRS review is looking at the luxurious Bisque Arteplano, a vibrant take on the simplest flat radiator design possible. With designs which are 100% completely unique to each and every customer, the Arteplano is an exciting prospect for the design-minded individual.

Hit the jump to find all about this Aluminium work of art…

AT A GLANCE

  • Made from Aluminium, and then completed with a gorgeous Brass or Copper exterior
  • Each model is finished with a completely individual etching
  • Available in a small selection of vertical and horizontal sizes to suit several design arrangements
  • Extremely well made, requiring artistic excellence and engineering proficiency to create each model
  • High-end price range
  • Reasonable heat output for its size and the flat panel design
  • Breath-taking appearance

LET’S TAKE A CLOSER LOOK

Bisque take great pride in all of their work, but the Bisque Arteplano is a radiator which they quite rightly make a lot of noise about across their website, brochure and other publications. Each time one is made, not only do Bisque go through all of the normal processes associated with manufacturing from Aluminium, but also have their patination artists work magic on the final product to create a completely distinctive design. No two Arteplano radiators are the same.

Juxtaposing one another wonderfully, the Brass and Copper tones catch your eye and capture your imagination instantly and get your creative juices flowing. These radiators are not just features; they become a huge part of the theme of your decoration, enhancing your décor, your lifestyle and your outlook.

SUPERB MATERIALS

The Artelpano’s hidden engine at the rear circulates hot water throughout its design and provides ample warmth despite a flat panel design which wouldn’t normally produce as much heat as a tubular alternative.

It will not be able to heat an enormous space, but due to the aluminium used for the rear side of the radiator it is able to very efficiently convect heat into the surrounding air very quickly, a much more capably than similar steel alternatives.

HANDY SIZING

The Arteplano is available in three vertical and three horizontal sizes. The height remains the same each time, while the widths change as below;

Vertical

  • 1813mm x 305mm – HJ-180-30
  • 1813mm x 453mm – HJ-180-45
  • 1813mm x 601mm – HJ-180-60

Horizontal

  • 601mm x 1013mm – VJ-56-100
  • 601mm x 1213mm – VJ-56-120
  • 601mm x 1413m – VJ-56-140

While there aren’t many sizes available for the Arteplano, it is intended to be a work of art that you shape your room around and take tremendous pride in. Vertical models will typically have a grander affect, but the horizontal sizes can be used in interesting ways to make them stand out from the rest.

VERDICT

At DRS we believe that the Arteplano achieves exactly what Bisque set out to do in creating a magnificent feast of colour for the eyes, and while it may not be particularly flexible or be able to heat huge spaces, that was never the intention.

The price point is high in the etched Copper and Brass finishes, but other finishes are available such as Brushed Aluminium and a selection of RAL colours, though the etched variations are the main attraction. Due to the amount of work and the nature of this individual design, we at DRS believe it to be worth the high-end price tag to stimulate any luxury household’s interior.

Take a look at the Arteplano online by clicking here, or if you would prefer you can see the Arteplano here at our wonderful Designer Radiator Showroom in Lancashire, 3 minutes away from the M6 exit at Charnock Richard services!

Today we are closely examining a very sweet and attractive designer radiator manufactured by the high end stainless steel producer Aeon. They call it the Honeycomb, but we call it un-bee-lievable!

This is a radiator truly gets you buzzing, and your excitement won’t fade quickly, you’ll be fixated each and every time you see it. Read more to find our all about it…

THE SWEETEST HONEY

The Aeon Honeycomb is unsurprisingly made up of a series of honeycomb shaped, hexagonal structures which connect together in a staggered series, making for a mouth-watering appearance.  It may look like a delicate design, but Aeon’s stainless steel manufacturing is second to none, so it boasts exceptional strength.

The slender design means that while the Honeycomb does produce heat, it isn’t in colossal amounts, just enough to heat the hive. This is a design feature which is perfect as a complementary heat source in larger rooms, and would be fine as the primary heat source in smaller bathrooms.

LONGEVITY TO GET YOU BUZZING!

With a 20 year long guarantee Aeon are promising exceptional quality from the Honeycomb, and this can be seen in both its Polished and Brushed finished options. The Polished stainless steel versions are gorgeous, shining examples of clean manufacturing, while the Brushed stainless steel models a beautifully satin, extremely modern and still very reflective of light.

Aeon’s Honeycomb is both functional and stylish too, as it can be used purely to show off its lovely design, or even as a towel holder for smaller towels in kitchens and restrooms. The nicest thing about the Honeycomb is that its price doesn’t come with much of a sting either given how stunning it is!

Available in 4 sizes, ranging from 580mm high / 550mm wide to a rather sizeable 1400mm high / 785mm wide, the Honeycomb has flexibility that you don’t often see in an over the top designer radiator, which is so refreshing and allows for it to work in any property.

You can see the Honeycomb right here, but don’t forget to have a look at some of our other superb designer radiators just here.

Part of what makes a Designer Radiator look simply breath-taking is the fact that no part of it looks amiss. All of our radiators make for absolutely stunning features, boasting sleek shapes, dazzling finishes and unique textures, but without the right shape of valve they might not look as wonderful as they should.

To avoid having a distracting valve, and to make sure that you can fit the radiator without a problem, here’s quick and easy to understand guide on the 3 valve shapes!

THE VALVES

So what are the 3 shapes of valves? There are;

  • Angled valves
  • Corner valves (sometimes called ‘double-angled’ valves)
  • Straight valves (sometimes called ‘in-line’ valves)

Each valve has their best use, and both Angled and Corner valves can be used in two ways…

Your pipework will almost always fall under one of two categories; it will approach your radiator from below/from the floor, or it will come outwards from the wall.

Likewise your radiator will either have valve connections on the underside of the radiator, or on the side of the radiator, so depending on the combination of these you can use valves very well or very badly. Here’s a quick guide to help you make the most of your arrangement.

THE DOS

If you have pipes which will be coming up from the floor and the radiator has connections on the side, you will need to use Angled Valves for the best finish;

If on the other hand the radiator actually has connection points underneath, then Straight Valves will be better;

For pipework which comes out from the wall however, no matter where you connect on the radiator corner valves will look the neatest;

THE DON’TS

Here’s why you don’t want to ignore our advice!

If you put the wrong valves with you radiator’s connections, even though they will fit the radiator, you end up with the heads of the valves pointing away from the wall and looking out of place, and potentially costing you space where you might not have it.

This is without mentioning that the angled valves in these examples is the perfect foothold for any young, aspiring climbers you might have in the house!

We hope this helps, but if you have any questions at all please just let us know by getting in touch via email at sales@designerradiatorshowroom.co.uk or reach us on our helpline on 01257 452879
